Opposite Corners

We sit in opposite corners of the room.

You smile at something on your phone,

while I am swiping through my regrets.

You glow up like a freshly picked flower,

while I struggle to put the pieces of my vase back together.

You bubble up with laughter resembling a newly opened drink,

while my ears ring with the crashing of the bottle.

You're now reading for leisure

while I desperately try to get lost between the pages.

Our eyes scrunch up and fall shut in sync.

As I try to hold my tide of tears at bay,

your eyes shine with unshed mirthful ones.

We sit in opposite corners of the room.

Such a beautiful depiction of the range of emotions one goes through during a heartbreak or loss!

It is a beautifully written and moving exploration of the pain of heartbreak. The imagery and metaphors you used were powerful and evocative, and I could really feel the anguish and despair.

Your way of expressing complex emotions in a way that is both relatable and beautiful is just amazing👌🏼
